/   beads

Whether it's from antlers or wild clay, shaping beads from nature's offerings is an immensely grounding experience. The beautiful shapes and colors that emerge, reflect the ever changing seasons of the land. Each creation serves as a reminder of our connection to nature.

/   clay beads

Uncover the beauty of nature in each little handmade piece. Every clay body features hues sourced entirely from natural materials, with no store-bought glazes involved. Experience the fascinating transformation from dry to fired clay - and the unexpected color changes in the process.

The creations highlight the rich, earthy tones that are to be found out in the Arctic land. Some lingering in a deep sleep, only to showcase their vibrant form when fired.

From dried burnished beads -

"Burnished clay refers to pottery whose surface has been polished to a high sheen using a hard, smooth tool while the clay is in a leather-hard state, before firing. This technique compresses the clay particles, creating a smooth, shiny, and less porous surface that acts as a natural sealant, enhancing the appearance and durability of the pottery without needing glaze."

-  to fired beads, both kiln and raku.

"Raku fired refers to clay bodies that has undergone the Raku firing process, a Japanese ceramic technique where the pieces are rapidly removed from a very hot kiln and placed in a container of combustible materials, like sawdust or straw and soil. This creates a unique, unpredictable finish by causing the unglazed clay to turn dark / black from the smoke in a process called reduction."

/   antler beads

When the sawing of the antlers turns out to be tiny art pieces on their own.

In the process of carving antler beads, I focus on allowing the soft hues of the antler shine through. The natural colors range from delicate pinks and purples, to soft blues, creating a beautiful soothing palette. Highlighting these hues during the carving, adds a unique charm to each and every bead.
